SALVATION ARMY CITADEL

8 SALVATION ARMY CITADEL (NOW A CHILDREN’S NURSERY)

The Salvation Army was long established in Marlow before the Citadel in Crown Road existed. In the December 1st 1906 edition of the ‘War Cry’ it was reported that Marlow has a ‘Long and Honourable Career of Salvation Fighting, a Fine Roll of Veterans, and some Promising New Blood.’ A new Hall at Marlow was declared opened on 15 June 1935 by Miss M Wright, to whom Colonel A. Zealley presented the key. Many influential people were present at the opening of the new Hall. The Salvation Army Citadel was located in Crown Road. The Citadel in Marlow was closed in 2007 and is now occupied by Poppies Day Nursery which opened in September 2008.
